VIOLET O. BEALE (nee Fox) age 96. Beloved wife of the late Jay. Loving mother of Charles (Arlene), Joseph (Carol) and James (Deanna). Cherished grandmother of Lisa French (Jack), Christopher (Theresa), Jay (Emily), Mary Testerman (Daniel), Carolyn Dignan (Adam), Michael (Courtney), Jaclyn Williams (Alex), Melissa Codner (Matt), Jeremy Sommers (Callie), Alex Sommers (Sabrina) and Nick Sommers and great grandmother of many. Dear sister of the late Omni, Nellie, Lillian, Roberta, Robert, Willis, Clare and Rissy. Aunt and great aunt of many.
Violet Beale was born to a loving family in April 1926 and had five sisters and three brothers. She was married to her husband, Jay, for over 50 years and gave birth to her three boys, Chuck, Joe, and Jim who were her entire world. She was a strong, independent, creative, god-fearing woman who had no problem telling you what was on her mind at any given time. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren with all her heart. Even the ones who were not blood related. In her words, “they are all mine, and they are all good”. She loved to camp in their camper at Pier-Lon campground where she sold her crafts at craft shows, crushed it at bingo regularly, and taught her grandchildren how to fish. There were many fond memories of swimming at the lake and getting ice cream afterwards and having a fire at night. Her competitive spirit was observed by her children and grandchildren when she would not let any of them win board games or bocce ball. That competitive spirit lives on in her grandchildren. Many rainy days were spent at the campground doing puzzles and crosswords. She had many friends at the Brooklyn senior center and everyone who knew her knew how she lit up the room with her infectious smile and laugh. Even when the days grew harder, she always made sure to ask if you wanted a sandwich or pop when you visited her home. She firmly believed in Jesus and sang in the church choir in her younger days. While she is no longer with us, she will live on through the memories of every person she has touched. The world lost a legend when they lost my grandma. I love you grandma.
