SAMUEL G. MINARDO, age 97. Beloved husband for 66 years to the late Rose (née Crimaldi); loving father of Carl (Linda), Tom (Cathy), Joe (Gwen Uri) and Maria Minardo (Dan Baron).
Proud grandfather of Julie Zsiga (John), Carrie Davis (Matt), Amy Minardo (Mike Rich, deceased), Kathryn Scott (Josh), Gregory Minardo (Rachel), Tony Minardo (Kaitlyn), Samantha Wuehrmann Stroheker (Andrew), William Wuehrmann (Victoria), Jessica Baron Miller (Jarod), Meghan Baron.
Delighted to be the great grandfather of Alison Zsiga, Andrew Zsiga, Jake Davis, Eli Davis, Auden Rich-Minardo, Cora Rich-Minardo, Eleanore Scott, Edith Scott, Nathan Scott, Owen Minardo, Paxton Minardo, Brady Minardo, Adler Minardo, Ford Minardo, Rose Stroheker, Pierson Stroheker, Avery Miller and Madelyn Miller.
Uncle and great uncle to many.
Sam, one of ten children, was the youngest son of Carlo and Mary (née Gullo). He is survived by his sister Rita (Joe Bennici, deceased). Sam was preceded in death by his other siblings: Josephine (Sam Nasca), Joseph (Genevieve), Johanna (Michael Bertolone), James (Virginia), Carmella (Bill Buemi), Charles (Katherine), Thomas (Marie), Mary (Sam Bonsignore, Matthew MacMillan)
Sam loved his wife, his family and his friends - near and far. He loved playing poker with the boys, a cold beer, telling stories from the old days, good food (cooked by Rosie!), fishing, tending his tomatoes, duct tape, Velcro, pocket knives, and being outdoors. He was always tinkering with something and was a true believer in “repurposing”. He was willing to share his skills and knowledge with anyone who asked for help (measure twice, cut once!).
A WW II Navy Veteran, Sam was a proud Italian-American, an honorable man who believed a handshake was a binding contract, and who worked hard to provide for and protect his family.
