Robert Charles Sberna was born on November 27, 1955 in Cleveland, Ohio. Rob had grown up in Strongsville with his loving parents, Charles and Mary, and his two younger siblings, Mary Beth and Chuck. Robert.
He attended St. Edwards High School and eventually went on to graduate from Ohio University with a Major in Journalism.
Rob’s passion for writing had led him early in his career to writing for a small newspaper in Geneva on the Lake. He later became a successful freelance writer and contributor to the Washington Examiner, US Magazine, The Cleveland Plain Dealer, Neoconomist, Crain’s, Ohio Magazine, and the Oxygen Channel amongst many others. But Rob’s true passion was for investigative Journalism. He had authored several true crime books, including “Badge 347”, “Lufthansa Heist”, and the award winning “House of Horrors”. When asked why he was so fascinated with this area of journalism, he answered, “I want to find the truth”.
When Rob wasn’t writing, he enjoyed running, playing golf, and spending time with close friends. He also enjoyed cooking Sunday dinners for his family.
Rob’s charismatic personality, witty sense of humor, and most of all kind and giving heart is what made him a truly wonderful son, brother, uncle, great uncle and beloved friend to so many people.
