RICHARD G. HENNING, age 90, passed into his heavenly home Tuesday, March 14th after a brief, unexpected illness. He was a beloved husband of Sandra Rose; devoted father of Randal Henning (Ellen) and Sharyl Murray (John); loving grandpa of Paul Henning, Erin Henning, Joshua Henning, Ashley Murray, Georgia Murray and David Murray (deceased); great grandpa of Lillyan Henning, Mae Henning and Avery Nicole Henning. Caring brother of Kathleen Henning, Theresa Swiderski (Stan), Terry Henning (Barbara), and Susan Graham (Gary). He was a very special friend to many.
"Dick" shared that he had lived a full life and was at peace with his time here. He always said he was proud of his children and especially enjoyed his grand children and all that they brought to his life.
He had strong faith and was a long time member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Berea. He loved serving God there, and was faithful in caring for his wife Sandy after her stroke in 2019. He was a Navy Veteran who served on the USS Harwood and frequently wore his Navy hat with pride. He worked for General Motors for 41 years in Parma. He was an avid bowler in earlier times, a lifelong fisherman, and a true Cleveland sports fan.
He will surely be missed by all that loved him. We have peace in knowing that he knew his journey did not end here, but was just beginning with God in heaven. In closing, as he would end most conversations to all he interacted with these past few years, we end with the same: "Have a safe day!"
