MARTI K. (Tobias) ESCANDON

Marti Kay (Tobias) Escandon, 70, passed away on June 15, 2022, surrounded by her loved ones, in her home following prolonged illness. Born in Detroit , MI, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Charles Tobias and Toni Marie Wilson. 

Marti leaves a legacy of unconditional love for her children, family, and friends. Throughout her life she made a point to laugh, dance, focus on the positives, and to always give to others in need. She cared for all those around her and was devoted to the loves of her life. Some will remember her smiling face in the many years she worked for Ford Motor Company. Others will remember her at the countless family gatherings, community events in which she volunteered, and the many laughter-filled evenings she shared. 

Her beautiful memory lives on in our hearts, there, she is eternally with us. She is survived by her sisters Shari Pate of Gilbert, AZ and Paula Dimaio of Chicago, Illinois. Her children , Jeanette Tafralian, Michael Johnson, Evelyn, Elizabeth, and Ruben Escandon. Her eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, many cousins, nieces and nephews, and her best friend Maryann Humphrey-Fantis. She was preceded in death by her former partner James J. Adams, Grandchildren Dylan Reid Tafralian and Dustin Rae Hudson, and her cat “Sweet Boy” TJ. 

The family would like to thank the Hospice Services of Southwest General for their wonderful care and compassion. 

Her memorial service will be held in Lakewood New Life Church 14224 Detroit Avenue Lakewood, OH 44107 Monday, June 20, 2022, at 12 Noon. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend and join in the Celebration of Marti's Life.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to: the ASPCA,  9555 Brookpark Rd, Parma, OH 44129 (https://northeastohiospca.org/)
