MARIAN BERNADINE JINDRA (nee Labuda) 89 years old, died peacefully at Paramount Assisted Living Center on Friday February 21, 2020. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Jindra and sisters Doris Hudec and Virginia Weber. Marian is survived by her children, Robert Jindra, Jennifer McCoy and Beth Ann Applegate-Townsend. Per Marian’s request, a Memorial Mass is scheduled for Saturday, August 1, 2020 at 10:00 AM, in St. Adelbert Catholic Church, 66 Adalbert Street, Berea, Ohio 44017, In lieu of flowers, you are invited to make a donation to the St. Vincent de Paul Society in Marian’s name.
Marian was born on July 2, 1930 in Cleveland, Ohio. She attended Holy Name High School graduating in 1948. In 1953 she graduated from St. John College in Cleveland, Ohio with a degree in Elementary school education. Marian’s kindness, compassion and selflessness touched the minds and hearts of everyone who knew her – including the second grade students she taught for over 30 years. In 1992 Marian received the “Teachers Choice” Teaching Award – a prestigious honor bestowed on her by senior high school students who identified her as their most inspirational teacher. This award is a testament to the profound impact she had on her students – both intellectually and spiritually.
Throughout her life, her deep love of Our Lord led her to serve others in a variety of ways. She volunteered with the St. Vincent de Paul Society for 32 years contribution her time, talent and treasure to meet the needs of the less fortunate. Marian was active in the campaign to end abortion. She led countless prayer and scripture study groups. Her devotion to the rosary and the Blessed Virgin Mary inspired her to coordinate and lead “Rosary Prayer Groups” whenever and wherever possible. She baked Potica for the Holy Trinity Parish to sell during the Easter and Christmas seasons every year and participated in the choir as well.
Marian was a model wife and mother – her deep spirituality and gentle manner, coupled with her professional knowledge of child development, guided her actions and decisions as she and Edward raised their three children. Marian’s devotion to the Sacred Heart and the Eucharist drew other to prayer and Eucharistic Adoration. She will be truly missed.
