KARIN KOVAC Obituary

Karin Anna (Hoyer) Kovac 65 passed away peacefully after a short, yet intense battle of cancer on Sunday, July 4th, 2021. Karin was born on March 26, 1956 to the late Rudolf and Felizitas Hoyer in Bamberg, Germany. She was preceded in death by her sister Ilona Ella Anna (Peter) Zimmermann.

Karin immigrated from Germany in 1975 and lived in Cleveland, Ohio where she worked as an office clerk at oak park motel, tended bar and raised her three kids for 18 years. It was at the Cricket where she met the love of her life Joseph Kovac. They moved to Pensacola, Florida where they spent 22 years of marriage together.  Karin enjoyed sitting on the dock by the bayou watching for dolphins during sunrises and sunsets.  She also loved to garden and maintained an immaculate home.  She had a passion for animals and rescued dogs, cats and any other animal that showed up on her doorstep. Friends would often tease that if reincarnation were real, they wanted to come back as one of her pups because of how much she spoiled them.  Her two beloved mutts, Molly Mae and Taco have rehomed with her son and daughter-in-law.

Karin is survived by her husband Joe; sister Eva (Horst) Bierlein; three children, Jennifer (Jamie) Bauer, Robert (Vanessa) Curtis, and Michael (Colleen) Curtis; and her stepchildren, Dawn (Lonnie) Berkshire, Kelly (Al) Yutzy, Todd (Miranda) Kovac, Jill (John) Laverdiere, and Joe Kovac; devoted nephew’s, Bernhard (Petra) Bucklisch, Rudolf Bucklisch, Michael and Alex Bierlein. She leaves behind 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Karin was loved by many, had a spirited personality, and would help anyone in need.  Karin and Joe often donated food and items needed to the Escambia County Humane Society. The family requests that any contributions made in her memory be mailed to the Escambia County Humane Society, 200 W. Fairfield Dr. Pensacola, Florida 32501.
