Joseph Boufaissal, 79, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away peacefully on September 9th, 2023.
Joe was born in Ain Dara, Lebanon on August 11th, 1944. After graduating from high school in Lebanon, he immigrated to the United States to study engineering at Case Western Reserve in Cleveland, Ohio. It was there he met his first wife, Frances (Viktoryn) Boufaissal.
After earning his bachelor's and master's degrees in Electrical Engineering, Joe embarked on a career in the semiconductor industry that spanned decades, working for companies such as National Semiconductor, Mitsubishi and Xilinx. His various roles allowed him and his family to live in many places around the country.
After retiring, Joe lived in Texas and Arizona. While in Texas, he married Rita Elfeghali, who sadly passed too soon. Later, he married Shefaa Ishak, with whom he spent the remainder of his life.
Throughout his career and personal life, Joe was able to travel the world extensively, crisscrossing continents and learning from every culture, cuisine, and conversation he encountered. An inquisitiveness and keen intellect drove all he pursued. He was also known for his generosity, kindness, and dedication to family and friends. His memory will forever by cherished by those who were fortunate enough to call him friend, colleague and family.
Joseph was predeceased by his parents, Toufic and Marie Boufaissal and his second wife, Rita Elfeghali.
Joseph is survived by his wife of 13 years, Shefaa Boufaissal; his children, Nicole (Brian) Hintze and Ted (Clarisa) Boufaissal; his four grandchildren, Alex Hintze, Kayla Hintze, Tristen Boufaissal, and Cerena Boufaissal; his sisters, Salwa (Joseph) Maalouf, Maha (Pierre) Aboukhaled; and his brother George (Margo) Boufaissal. He is also survived by his much loved nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
Funeral Liturgy will be held on Monday, September 18, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at St. George Orthodox Church, 2587 West 14th Street, Cleveland. Interment St. Theodosius Cemetery.
