Jacob Dybiec, age 29. Loving son of Jack and Linda (nee Burton) Dybiec; caring brother of Nicole and Ryan; and companion Whitney Deyo; cherished grandson of the late John and Josephine Dybiec and Ralph and Margaret Burton. dear nephew of Debbie Burton, Sandra Antorino, Patty Burton (deceased), Ralph (Susan) Burton, Matthew Burton, David (Edna) Burton, Jeffrey (Miriam) Dybiec, Seth Dybiec, Joshua Dybiec and Jonathan Dybiec; cousin and friend to many.
Jacob "Jake" Dybiec of Cleveland, Ohio, was pursuing a Ph.D. in Biology at The University of Alabama. A team member in the Cherry Wetland Ecology Lab since 2020, Jake's dissertation examined the impacts of environmental variation of plant interactions and ecosystem stability in tidal marshes. During his time in the program, he was awarded a Graduate Council Fellowship and served as a graduate research assistant for a Mississippi-Alabama Sea Grant project on the recovery of ecosystem functions in restored marshes. Most recently, Jake was selected for the 2022-2024 cohort of the NOAA Margaret A. Davidson Graduate Fellowship, which provided him the opportunity to conduct research at the Weeks Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve in Fairhope, Alabama, on the interactive effects of nutrient enrichment and wave action on marsh resilience. Prior to joining UA, Jake received his M.S. in Biology from Central Michigan University and his B.S. in Environmental Science from John Carroll University.

A Celebration of Jacob's Life will be held on 2:00 pm, Saturday, July 15, 2023 at the funeral home.
