Obituary

ISABEL GREENLEAF (nee OGILVIE), age 88. It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved mom.  Isabel Greenleaf passed away in the loving embrace of her children.  Our mom’s life was filled with laughter, kindness, travel, lots of kids, and the ability to share special moments with each one of her 7 children.

Isabel was born on April 9, 1933 in Cleveland, Ohio to the parents Ella and Stewart Ogilvie.  Her father passed away at an early age and was raised by her mom with a huge presence of her grandmother Isabel.  Mom would speak very highly of Isabel and the loving guidance that these two women provided.  She grew up with a very protective brother Sandy watching over her and Ella later remarried George Polk and welcomed brother Billy and little sister Nancy.  Mom and Nancy had a wonderful relationship, as they would share the love of family, gambling, laughter and watching their families grow.  Mom enjoyed a long and enjoyable career as a Brooklyn school bus driver, getting thousands of kids home safely daily.

Mom would remind us all of “7 healthy pregnancies, 7 healthy babies” Stewart (Laura), Debbie (Dennis), Scott, Dean (Suzy), Duane (Pedro / Tiffany), Dawn (Tony) and Sharyl….. mom LOVED her children!  Her love was endless and was able to share that love individually with each and every one of us in her own special way.  We would always ask her if “am I your favorite” and without missing a beat she would reassure us that each of us was, truly her favorite. The only true pain in our mom’s life was the passing of our bother Scott.  She showed us then how deep her love was by not only morning his passing but making sure she pulled us through the pain we all faced.

As her kids had kids, mom’s family grew and we welcomed the addition of her 13 grandchildren: Jimmy, Brandy, Hollie, Shannon, Amber, Breanne, Scotty, Tony, Tyler, Olivia, Brianna, Grayson and Connor. Mom had so much fun with the grandkids and again was able to share a very special bond with each and every one of them.

In addition to the 13 grandkids mom also has 23 great grandkids: Colton, Ashlee, Shane, Isabel, Shalei, Don, August, Ava, Lexi, Adison, Joey, Drew, Oliver, Andrew, Aaron, Charlotte, Aiden, Zachary, Aubriella, Mackenzie, Abraham, Scarlett and Anthony.

We will be having a private family memorial for mom.  If you would like to donate in mom’s name, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital www.stjude.org was near and dear to mom. Arrangements entrusted to the A. RIPEPI & SONS FUNERAL HOME, 18149 BAGLEY ROAD, MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS (WEST OF I-71).
