ELLEN W. (Gornall) FLAESGARTEN

ELLEN W. FLAESGARTEN (nee Gornall) age 65. Beloved wife of Gregory. Loving mother of Emily Flaesgarten (Christopher Bamrick) and Caroline Flaesgarten (Matthew Centlivre). Cherished grandmother of Ezra. Dear sister of Sarah Johns, Elizabeth Poirson and Kenyon Gornall. Special sister-in-Law to Sue Clark.  Aunt of Christopher Johns, Molly Franz, Matthew Clark and Elizabeth Hilley.

Ellen was born in Oberlin December 8, 1957 to parents Kenyon and Jane. She grew up alongside her two older sisters Sarah and Betsy and her younger brother Ken in
the home her mother and father built on Shipherd Circle. She attended Baldwin Wallace College where she was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta and was the Yellow
Jacket mascot (she also met her husband Greg for the first time while attending BW). After graduating in 1980 she became a teacher and taught kindergarten in the Lorain city school district.
 

One evening Ellen ran into Greg for the first time since college and the rest was history; they were married in August 1989. They welcomed their first daughter Emily
in 1990 and their second daughter, Caroline in 1996. Ellen survived brain cancer twice, both diagnosis gave her a minimal survival rate; but she beat the odds, and never let her diagnosis get her down. She was always full of joy and happiness; willing to share a smile, a laugh or a gentle touch and was kind to everyone she met. Her favorite color was blue, she loved to sing and dance, and also enjoyed traveling with her family making memories that will be forever cherished. She will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to know her. Her memory will live on through the memories and stories of those who know and love her.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday May 26, 2023 at 11 AM in the funeral home.  The family will receive friends Thursday 3 - 7 PM at THE A. RIPEPI AND SONS FUNERAL HOME, 18149 BAGLEY ROAD, MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS, OHIO 44130 (WEST of I-71)
