November 24, 1926 ~ September 25, 2018 (age 91) 91 Years Old

WILLIAM REPPA Obituary

WILLIAM D. REPPA age 91. Beloved husband of Patricia (nee Maglione). Loving father of Mark A. (Brenda), Scot W. (Virginia) and William A. (Darla). Cherished grandfather of Katelyn (Jim Kolousek), Megan Richards (Pete) and Matthew. Dear brother of 9 deceased siblings. U.S. Army WWII Veteran.

Bill graduated from Lakewood High School in 1945. Served in the U.S. Army, infantry as a Sergeant from 1945 - 1946, and then in the Army Reserves as a Captain from 1950-1958. During this time he received his degree in Education from Kent State University with a BA in 1951 and a ME in 1956, and was a member of Sigma Nu.

Starting as a Teacher, Coach at Lincoln High School in 1952 - 63 then went to Independence High School form 1963 - 65, went to West Technical High School to teach from 1965 - 67 then became an administrative Intern at Nathan Hale Junior High in 1968, assistant Principal at Franklin D. Roosevelt Junior High from 1968 -70, principal at Empire Junior High School form 1972 - 73, Director of Physical Education and Athletics in the Cleveland School System form 1973 - 85. After retirement from the Cleveland Public School System he became an Adjunct Professor at Baldwin-Wallace College from 1990 - 98. 

Bill attained many accolades during his lifetime:   Lakewood High School Played Baseball and Basketball.  

Kent State University:    Member of Blue Key B+National Service Organization; Student-Faculty Publications and Policy Committee; House Manager - Sigma Nu Fraternity; President - Health and Physical Education Club; V.P.- Under Grad Varsity K Club; Four year Starter - Baseball with an overall batting average of .348; one year basketball; Outstanding Graduating Physical Education Award; Outstanding Graduating Senior in Athletics; Who's Who in Colleges and Universities; V.P.- Phi Epsilon Kappa National P.E.; President - Health and Physical Education Club; Distinguished Military Graduate - ROTC - and LT; President and Member of the KSU Varsity Alumni and the KSU Blue and Gold Alumni and Member of NCAA Evaluation Committee at KSU. 

Community:  Advisory Board at Rainbow Sports Medicine Committee; Member of National AAU Basketball Committee; National Committee for UNESCO for Physical Education; Football Official OHSAA - President of Cleveland Football Officials; Lifetime Membership to National AAU; Co-Chair administrative and Supervisory Selection OAHPERD; Member of Many Central Evaluation Teams; Treasurer of Cleveland Browns Muni Football Association. 

Awards:  Co-Founder and elected the Greater Cleveland Sports Hall of Fame; CYO Community Service Award; Cleveland Touchdown Club Community Service Award; Golden Deeds Award - Basketball Coaches Assoc; Baseball Coaches Assoc, "Man of the Year"; Elected into the Lakewood High School Athletic Hall of Fame; National Alumni Distinguished Service Award; Lincoln High School Good Fellow Ole Sports Award; Sigma Nu Fraternity Hall of Honor Lifetime Achievement Award and Honorary Member of Cleveland Basketball Official Assoc. 

He achieved all levels of educational success from Assistant Principal to Principal to Director of Physical Education and Welfare for the City of Cleveland Public Schools where he retired from in 1985. He received many awards for sports and education and is inducted in several Halls of Fame. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions requested to the Reppa Baseball Endowment Fund at Kent State University or Holy Family Hospice. Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Columbkille Church, 6740 Broadview Road, Parma, OH 44134 on Monday October 8, 2018 at 2:00 PM. The family will gather with friends at the church from 1:00 – 2:00 PM.
