ROBIN STASTNY Obituary

STASTNY

ROBIN LEE (nee Balzer) STASTNY

February 23, 1954 – April 18, 2018. beloved wife of Joseph Stastny. Loving mother of Jordan (Brittney) Stastny and Jillian Rini (Ryan). Cherished grandmother of Jacob Kania. She was the loving daughter of the late Dale and Geraldine Balzer and daughter in law of Louise and the late Joseph Stastny. She is survived by her loving siblings, Wayne Balzer (Judy), Sandy Balzer and Becky Balzer.

We lost a piece of our heart today. The common thread from the tapestry that connects us to each other. But, Robin wasn't common by any means. She was a bright shining star that could light up a room when she walked in. Through her illness, she never complained or asked "why me?”.

Robin graduated from Berea High School in 1972.  She pursued her Special Education Degree at Bowling Green State University. After student teaching at Ford Middle School in the Berea School District, she graduated in 1976.  Robin was lucky enough to teach her whole career, 35 years, at Ford Middle School; first as a Special Education teacher, then as an Intervention Specialist, finally retiring in 2011.

From childhood, Robin was involved in Girl Scouts and went on to become a Girl Scout Leader.  Robin loved gardening, doing crafts, and home decorating. She really enjoyed going on numerous vacations with friends and family. Among her favorites were Put-In-Bay, Key West, Geneva, cruising, and visiting local wineries. For the past decade, Robin has been very active in P.E.O. Sisterhood.  Robin learned about P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization) from neighbor Lori Spencer and Lori’s mother, Pat Schaefer.  She loved the idea of sisterhood and helping women gain their educational goals. As an educator herself, it was very clear she wanted to be involved with this group.  In 2009, Robin joined Chapter EO in Elyria.  After a few years of commuting to meetings in Lorain County, Lori and Robin decided to request permission to charter a chapter in Middleburg Heights.  In 2013, their goals were reached and Chapter FK was formed.  Robin was very proud to have her daughter, Jillian and her sister, Sandy join the organization of this new chapter.  Robin went on to serve as Vice President and President and worked diligently on many committees.

Robin led a full and rich life. She touched so many lives. She cared so much for her friends and family and was a best friend to many.  Fly with the angels and watch over us all dear Robin until we meet again. in lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to the Hospice of the Western Reserve. In accordance with her wishes, a "Celebration of Robin's Life" will be held on Wednesday April 25, 2018 at the funeral home at 7:00 PM.
