Mike was born on May 29th, 1945, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  His favorite team growing up was the Milwaukee Braves, and he cherished their 1957 World Series championship.  He graduated from Milwaukee’s Custer High School in 1963, and earned a Congressional appointment to the United States Merchant Marine Academy at King’s Point, New York.  Mike graduated in 1967 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Engineering from the USMMA, and then served in Vietnam with the Naval Reserves. Mike married the love of his life, Mary Ellen Martino, on November 18th, 1967.

Mike had a successful business career, beginning as Chief Engineer for American Safety Equipment Corp, which brought he and his family from Long Island, New York to Strongsville in 1973.   In 1974, Mike joined Gould Electronics (later Westinghouse), which began a 20+ year career with roles such as a Systems Engineer, Director of R&D, Technical Director on various development projects, and then finally as Site Supervisor in Newport, Rhode Island.   Later, until his retirement in 2015, Mike wore various hats, including President and Owner of Ohio Telecard Co., Chief Engineer at Anderson Equipment Corp., Operations Manager with Yager & Light Paint Finishing Systems, and finally, as Quality Manager, Training Manager, and Safety Manager with Rosby Industries.

Mike loved helping others, and he did so through various community activities, including the Knights of Columbus #3019, the Berea Kiwanis Club (in which he once proudly served as President), along with volunteering at local food pantries.    He was a grateful friend of Bill W. since 1984, and helped many people throughout the years.

Mike had a heart of gold and was always willing to go the extra mile for any friend or family member in need.   No matter the situation, Mike let you know where everyone stood with him. He has left a lasting impression on everyone that he came in contact with.

The family is forever grateful for the outstanding care provided to Mike over the last year of his life by various care providers, especially Vitalia Assisted Living in Strongsville, along with Kindred Hospice.
