LAZAR
GEORGE J. LAZAR, SR. age 88 of Parma. Beloved husband of the late Anna Marie (Nee Seman). Loving father of Georgeanne Urminski (Joe Soto), George, Jr. (Marge) and Suzanne Berger (Rick Stahl). Cherished grandfather of Christopher Urminski, Alex Feliciano (Alicia), Vincent and Valerie Lazar, Sean Conroy (Emily), Emily and Derek Berger. Dear brother of Esther Kovacik (late Jim), Ruth Popa (George), Joe (Barbara), Mike (Ruby) (both deceased), Dan (deceased) (Dorothy), David (Anna) (both deceased).
George was a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran and a chaperone for the Honor Flights (ie: a program that flies veterans to Washington D.C.) for a day trip to see the Vietnam Wall and other monuments and museums dedicated to all branches of the military.
George was a loving, devoted husband, father and grandfather. he was loyal and compassionate to his church, his community and anyone whose lives he touched. His success and positive attitude started early in 1948, he was a State Champion Wrestler out of West Tech High School. He was a caring, helpful neighbor, and a scout leader. He was a member of Holy Family Church in Parma, Ohio for many years and a member of the Church Choir for over 20 years. He volunteered at the church festival and fish fry.
George loved to march in many parades and helped with events at a member of the American Legion Post 703. He was a member of the Rifle Volley team which performed for funerals and other events providing the Military Honors (TAPS, 21 gun Salute, etc.).Among other things in life, he was an avid accomplished golfer. He loved the outdoors and has such a passion for the game. If there was a warm day in February, he would be teeing off by 9:00 AM.
After attending Fenn College of Engineering, he landed a job at ALCOA and worked there for 40 years. Where he retired as a Managing Engineer. All of his life's endeavors were for the good of his family . He made sure his wife Anna Marie, his children and grandchildren received everything they needed to be accomplished in life and kept everyone happy.
He loved telling jokes. He created beautiful memories that will last a lifetime. He lived a Christian Life and left a legacy of love. He was the "BEST OF THE BEST"!
A Mass of Christian Burial Holy Family Church, Thursday August 16, 2018 at 10:00 AM. Interment Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Friends received Wednesday 3 – 8 PM at the A. RIPEPI AND SONS FUNERAL HOME, 18149 BAGLEY ROAD, MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS, OH (West of I-71).
