CAROLYN JEAN BOWERS McCALLISTER, 89, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2019, in the arms of her daughter / long time care giver Tracy, and with her faithful companion poodle, “Minnie”. Born in Toledo, Ohio on February 5, 1930 to the late Dr. Donald E. and Opal Bowers. Loving and devoted wife for over 60 years to the late Richard McCallister. Beloved mother of four strong spirited daughters: Brooke Caplin (Dr. Stuart), Robin Donahey (Richard), Tracy Ranchoff (Dr. Richard), and Holly Miller (Terry). Blessed with 11 grandchildren: Tammy Jones (Greg), Richard Caplin (Danielle), Dr. Courtney Caplin (Dr. Erik), Dr. Andrea Aguilera (Dr. Anthony), Erica Miller, Kyle Miller (Vivian), Chad Miller (Courtney), Brittany and Grant Ranchoff and Ryann and Robert Donahey; and 11 great grandchildren Allister, Annabel, Estelle, Rosalyn, Josiah, Jude and Riviera Jones, Callie, Rilen and Brooks Caplin and Avery Miller. Devoted sister of Elizabeth Moree (Leland) and sister in law of the late Robert V. McCallister. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Carolyn's infectious laugh would light up a room. Our mother shared her strength and wisdom not only with her family and friends but with numerous children in her role as a high school guidance counselor. Her legacy will continue through all of them. After retirement, she continued to guide and provide sound advice to many. She had a way to always make a difficult situation better in the most gentle and usually comical way. She loved her home on the lake: watching the boats, birds and squirrels. You could often find her with a book in her hand and she shared this love for reading with her daughters. Her values included loyalty, love, support, encouragement, wisdom, fun, and always living life to its fullest. Most of all Carolyn’s most valued asset was her unconditional love of family and those around her. We are surrounded by her, even though she is no longer with us because we have a piece of her within us. Carolyn the “Rock” of the McCallister Clan will be deeply missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Huron Public Library, Fiscal Officer Joanne Kensick, 333 Williams St., Huron, OH 44839. Come celebrate the Life of Carolyn, 11:00 AM. Saturday, May 18, 2019 at the Chapel of Peace Mausoleum at Toledo Memorial Park, 6382 Monroe St., Sylvania, Ohio 43560, with inurnment to follow. Arrangements by the A.
