ANGELO CENTORBI Obituary

ANGELO M. CENTORBI, AGE 91.  Beloved husband of Mary Ann (nee Vinci) for 68 years.  Retired North Randall Police Chief.  Loving father of Phil (Lorrie), Angelo Jr., James (Paula), and Annamarie Girardi (Bob). Cherished grandfather of 8, and great grandfather of 4. U.S. Navy Veteran.

On Friday, November 30, 2018 Angelo Centorbi went home to be with the lord.

Angelo was born and raised in Cleveland, OH and spent his early years between Cleveland and Sandusky. He served in the Navy for a short time as a cook. Upon his return, during a visit to his Aunt in Cleveland, Angelo met the girl who lived across the street and his future wife, Mary. Not having any means of transportation Angelo rode his bike from Sandusky to Cleveland. Upon returning to Sandusky Angelo knew she was the one, packed up his things and returned to Cleveland to live with his Aunt and begin courting Mary.

In 1950 the two got married. In a few years they purchased some land in the country in the tiny Village of North Randall on the east side of Cleveland. Shortly after Angelo began the construction of their first home. Stopping every evening on his way home from work at the Tow Motor Corporation and working on the weekends with family and friends Angelo built the two-story home where he and Mary would raise their family and live for 40 years.

In 1959 Angelo decided to join the North Randall Police Force where he would spend the next 36 years serving the residents of North Randall. He worked his way up from Patrolman to Chief. Not only did Angelo serve as policeman, but for those that knew him, knew that his service had no limits. In this tiny village where everyone pitched in Angelo led the charge serving as a Policeman, Fireman and in the Service Department, doing everything from striping the streets to fixing the very cars he patrolled in.

Angelo also started his own business to provide a better life for his family and allow Mary to stay home and raise their children. The fleet repair business was called A & S (Angelo & Sons) Maintenance. Angelo would work on his off hours at several different lumber yards repairing, trucks, tow motors and saw mills. He maintained this business for 30 years until finally retiring in 1995.

Angelo is survived by his wife of 68 years, Angelo and Mary had four children, Phillip (Lorrie), Angelo Jr., James (Paula), and Annamarie (Robert) Girardi. Eight grandchildren, Michael, Kristina, Angelo, Anthony, Cassandra, James II, Vincenzo, & Santino. And four great grandchildren, Patric, Ryan, Rebecca and Noah, as well as many nieces and nephews. Dear brother of Anthony (deceased), Sue Ryan (deceased), Marie Crawford, Tom Damanti (deceased), Josephine Torkelson, Tony Damanti (deceased), and Jim Damanti.
